WERE ANY SCENES IN OLIVER! FILMED OUTSIDE THE STUDIOS?
It’s a tribute to the production team as a whole, and John Box’s Oscar-winning work in particular, that this question is often asked, and various sources give different answers. There are two brief point of view shots of the West End of St Paul’s Cathedral, taken by the second unit and showing us what Oliver sees when he first arrives in London. There is a scene out on the heath which was filmed near the studios. Everything else was filmed at Shepperton Studios, including the stunning Bloomsbury Square set used in the ‘Who Will Buy?’ sequence. Despite what some sources say, this wasn’t in London or Bath!
